WHEREAS, on April 1, 2023, the State of New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development and Economic Opportunity granted the City of Newark the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) grant through the Newark Workforce Development Board (NWDB) for State Fiscal Year 2023 for the period beginning April 1, 2023 through October 31, 2023, in the amount of One Million Seven Hundred Four Thousand Seven Hundred Dollars and Zero Cents ($1,704,700.00) pursuant to the Notice of Award ("NOA") attached hereto; and
WHEREAS, the goal of the SYEP is to provide In-School and Out-of-School youth and young adults ages 16 through 24 with valuable internships and help them to successfully transition to the world of work; and
WHEREAS, the SYEP funding must be fully obligated and expended by October 31, 2023 or returned to the State; and
WHEREAS, the funds will be allocated as the following:
