Resolution 7R5-b adopted on October 5, 2022, ratified and accepted grant funds in the amount of $210,000.00.

 

Resolution 7R5-b adopted on December 21, 2022, amended and accepted additional grant funds in the amount of $393,647.00, increasing the total grant amount to $603,647.00.

 

This Resolution amends Resolution 7R5-b adopted on December 21, 2022, to accept $53,843.00 in additional grant funds for an increased total grant amount of $657,490.00.

WHEREAS, the Department of Health and Community Wellness (“DHCW”) provides immunization services to increase immunization coverage levels for children and adults through the Immunization Action Plan/Project Vaccinate Program in the City of Newark (the “City”); and

 

WHEREAS, the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH), Vaccine Preventable Disease Program, has made additional funds available for the provision of such services through the Immunization 2023 Grant; and

 

WHEREAS, on October 5, 2022, the Municipal Council adopted Resolution 7R5-b, which ratified and authorized the Mayor of the City of Newark and/or his designee, the Acting Director of the DHCW, to accept grant funds in the amount of Two Hundred Ten Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($210,000.00); and

 

WHEREAS, on December 21, 2022, the Municipal Council adopted amended Resolution 7R5-b, which ratified and authorized the Mayor of the City of Newark and/or his designee, the Director of the DHCW, to accept additional grant funds in the amount of Three Thousand Six Hundred Forty-Seven Dollars and Zero Cents ($393,647.00) from the NJDOH, increasing the total grant amount to Six Hundred Three Thousand Six Hundred Forty-Seven Dollars and Zero Cents ($603,647.00); and

 

WHEREAS, as on March 1, 2023, NJDOH notified DHCW of additional funds in the amount of Fifty-Three Thousand Eight Hundred Forty-Three Dollars and Zero Cents ($53,843.00) for the Immunization Program for the period commencing on October 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023 (a copy of NJDOH Letter of Amendment is attached hereto and made a part hereof); and

 

WHEREAS, the City’s DHCW, desires to accept the additional funds in the amount Fifty-Three Thousand Eight Hundred Forty-Three Dollars and Zero Cents ($53,843.00), which will increase the total grant amount to Six Hundred Fifty-Seven Thousand Four Hundred Ninety Dollars and Zero Cents ($657,490.00); and

 

WHEREAS, the City recognizes that the NJDOH, Vaccine Preventable Disease Program, may extend the time of the Grant Award and/or provide additional funds, if made available; and

 

WHEREAS, the NJDOH, Vaccine Preventable Disease Program, will amend the grant to reflect the extension of the grant period and/or increase or decrease additional funds, if made available

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

 

1.                     The Mayor of the City of Newark and/or his designee, the Director of the Department of Health and Community Wellness, are hereby authorized to accept additional funds in the amount of Fifty-Three Thousand Eight Hundred Forty-Three Dollars and Zero Cents ($53,843.00), from the NJDOH, Vaccine Preventable Disease Program, for the Immunization 2023 Grant to continue support of the immunization program, which will bring the total grant amount to Six Hundred Fifty-Seven Thousand Four Hundred Ninety Dollars and Zero Cents ($657,490.00).

 

2.                     The Municipal Council hereby ratifies it’s the acceptance of additional funds from October 1, 2022 to the date of adoption of this authorizing Resolution.

 

3.                     The grant award in the amount of Fifty-Three Thousand Eight Hundred Forty-Three Dollars and Zero Cents ($53,843.00) from the NJDOH, Vaccine Preventable Disease Program, is hereby accepted.

 

4.                     The Municipal Council hereby ratifies the acceptance of this grant award from October 1, 2022 to the date of adoption of this authorizing Resolution.

 

5.                     No municipal funds are required for receipt or acceptance of this grant award.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

This Resolution ratifies and authorizes the Mayor of the City of Newark and or/his designee, the Director of the Department of Health and Community Wellness, to amend Resolution 7R5-b adopted on December 21, 2022, to accept additional funds in the amount of $53,843.00 from the NJDOH, Vaccine Preventable Disease Program for a total grant amount of $603,647.00, to continue support of the immunization program for the period commencing  October 1, 2022 and terminating June 30, 2023. No municipal funds are required for receipt or acceptance of the grant award.
