WHEREAS, on September 28, 2022, on behalf of the City of Newark, the Director of Public Safety submitted an application to the State of New Jersey Department of Law & Public Safety, Office of the Attorney General, requesting grant funding in the amount of One Million Nineteen Thousand Four Hundred Seventeen Dollars and Ninety-Three Cents ($1,019,417.93), through the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act - 2021 Coronavirus State Fiscal Recovery Fund, Gunshot Detection Technology Initiative ("the Grant") to fund the expansion of the Newark Police Division's Gunshot Detection System in order to reduce gun violence, with no City funds required; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the terms of the Grant application, a copy of which is attached hereto, the City of Newark is required to submit a resolution from the Newark Municipal Council authorizing submission of the Grant application; and
