WHEREAS, on or about December 14, 2022, the Business Administrator, on behalf of the City of Newark applied for a Food Security Planning Grant from the New Jersey Economic Development Authority ("NJEDA") for approximately One Hundred Eleven Thousand Seven Hundred Sixty Dollars and Zero Cents ($111,760.00) to carry out a "Food Security Planning" program to fund the development of an action-oriented plan leveraging the identified distressed asset to improve food access and food security for the Newark South food desert community; and
WHEREAS, on May 16, 2023, as a result of this application, the City was awarded a grant in the amount of One Hundred Eleven Thousand Seven Hundred Sixty Dollars and Zero Cents ($111,760.00) from the NJEDA for said purposes; and
