WHEREAS, Ordinance 6PSF-f, adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc., for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and

WHEREAS, Wilhelmina Holder, was the consummate public servant, who helped the children in her neighborhood drive to become creative geniuses, while tapping into the resources of their families, local businesses, and other concerned community members; and

WHEREAS, Wilhelmina Holder was raised by parents who modeled compassion and demanded excellence, which made her a natural for the "Community Mom" of the Central Ward. Wilhelmina was the eldest of six (6) children and was educated in the Newark Public School system. She continued her education with certified trainings offered by Harvard, Columbia and Chicago Universities, the College Board and the Council of Great City Schools; and

WHEREAS, Wilhelmina Holder's lifetime commitment to children and families aided her leadership roles in the Newark Public Schools, the Essex County PTA, the Secondary Parent Council, the Special Education Advisory Council, the Vailsburg Parent Coalition for Effective Newark Public Schools, The Alliance for Public Education, and the High School Academic Support Program, which she co-founded with Lyndon Brown.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
