Whereas, Autism is the fastest growing developmental disability in the world; and
WHEREAS, Autism Awareness Day is an internationally recognized day annually on April 2nd; and
WHEREAS, World Autism Awareness Month is an internationally recognized month annually each April; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newark will sponsor the Third Annual Autism Awareness Family Fun and Resource Day at Mulberry Commons Park on Saturday, April 6, 2024.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council proclaims April 2, 2024 Autism Awareness Day and the month of April 2024 as World Autism Awareness Month throughout the City of Newark, New Jersey.
2. This Resolution of Support is hereby ratified to the date of adoption of this authorizing Resolution.
3. A copy of the Resolution shall be filed with the Office of the City Clerk.

This Resolution proclaims the Municipal Council support of Autism Awareness Day and World Autism Awareness Month to create awareness of the unique educational, vocational and day-to-day life needs of people who are autistic for the month of April 2024 throughout the City of Newark, New Jersey.
