WHEREAS, Ordinance 6PSF-f, adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc. for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and

WHEREAS, Vernest C. Moore moved to the City of Newark, New Jersey after graduating from Morgan State University and began working in the Newark Public School system. He later went on to work for the Courts as an Administrator and his tenure included working with the City of Newark's Honorable Councilman, George Branch; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Moore continued to work with several schools sharing his gift of fashion and designing. Vernest C. Moore produced fashion shows, highlighting designers and models from various wards throughout the City; and

WHEREAS, during his long and distinguished career, as a designer and producer of fashion, Vernest C. Moore was a dedicated and skilled craftsperson with a "can-do" attitude, Mr. Moore's service to the Newark community, is a testament to the countless number of lives that was touched with his unbounded generosity, compassion, kindness and style; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

1. The Municipal Council does hereby authorize the honorary and ceremonial renaming of the intersection of Fabyan Place and Keer Avenue as 'Vernest Moore Way".

2. The official name of the said streets shall remain Fabyan Place and...
