RE: Code Enforcement and reporting of violations and adjunction
The Governing Body held discussions regarding Code Enforcement violations by landlords of large apartment buildings and difficulties Council Members are having trying to track the progress and the adjunction of the violations, including court dates and fines. Councilmembers are requesting the information be consolidated to include the violations and their status.
Council Member Ramos requested information from the Rent Control Board regarding illegal rent increase by the owners of 515 and 555 Mount Prospect Ave. He has requested the names of the tenants affected and status of repayments. Councilman Ramos strongly recommends a new process by Code Enforcement and Municipal Courts, which will allow the public to track the progress of their complaints from the issuance of the violation to the abatement.
