AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 23, TRAFFIC, CHAPTER 5, PARKING, STOPPING AND STANDING, GENERALLY, SECTION 14, PARKING BY PERMIT ONLY, IN DESIGNATED RESIDENTIAL AREAS, SUBSECTION 23:5-14(E), PERMIT PARKING; AREAS DESIGNATED, OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, 2000, AS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED, BY ADDING POLK STREET, BETWEEN LAFAYETTE STREET AND CLOVER STREET, TO THE EXISTING PERMIT PARKING AREAS DESIGNATED LIST, REPLACING THE 4 HOUR VISITOR RESIDENTIAL PERMIT PARKING ONLY, TO ALLOW PERMIT PARKING ONLY FROM 6:00 P.M. TO 6:00 A.M. (EAST WARD).

WHEREAS, at its Regular Meeting of December 6, 2017, East Ward Councilman Augusto Amador presented legislation to the Municipal Council requesting "Parking by Permit Only" for residents of Polk Street, between Lafayette Street and Clover Street, East Ward (as Ordinance 8-a120617); during its January 10, 2019 Regular Meeting, Councilman Amador presented an additional amendment to the legislation, providing four (4) hour parking for visitors, at Polk Street, between Lafayette Street and Clover Street, East Ward; and
WHEREAS, Councilman Michael J. Silva has requested an additional amendment to the legislation requiring the four (4) hour visitor parking amendment be replaced with "Parking by Permit Only" from 6:00 P.M. to 6:00 A.M. by the Department of Engineering, on Polk Street between Lafayette Street and Clover Street, in the East Ward.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
Section 1. That Section 23:5-14e, Parking by Permit Only in Designated Residential Areas, of Title 23, Traffic and Parking, of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, be amended and supplemented by adding thereto the following:
