WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City of Newark to provide a clean, litter free environment for its citizens; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newark is eligible to receive an annual grant under the Municipal Tonnage Act of the State of New Jersey, (N.J.S.A 13:1E-99.37 et seq., as amended by P.L. 1989, C. 108), and administered by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection; and
WHEREAS, said grant is to create or to supplement an existing Municipal Tonnage Program within the municipality; and
WHEREAS, to be eligible for this funding, the City of Newark must adopt a model program for tonnage control as required by N.J.S.A. 13:1E-99.37, and must certify that the model program has been adopted; and
WHEREAS, the State of New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection authorized the City of Newark’s Department of Neighborhood and Recreational Services to closeout all balances in old existing Municipal Tonnage Grants and to rollover the balances to create a new Municipal Tonnage Grant in the am...
