WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:9-120 et seq., the City of Newark is authorized to appoint up to 50 Constables to establish the term for such appointment at one (1) or three (3) years; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newark wishes to implement the three (3) year option.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. Khamil S. Bowman, 202-B Court Street, Newark, New Jersey, be and he is hereby appointed Constable for a period of three (3) years effective from the date of the Constable Bond to the expiration of the bond, which ever occurs first, in accordance with his application to serve writs, subpoenas and warrants.
2. Prior to entering upon the execution of his office and no later than thirty (30) days after the effective date of the appointment, the aforesaid appointee shall submit a Constable Bond, which shall be approved as to form, amount and sufficiency of Surety by Resolution of the Municipal Council.
STATEMENT
This resolution authorizes Khamil S. Bowman to serve as a Constable in the City of Newark, New Jersey, for a period of three (3) years from the date of the Constable Bond to its expiration, whichever occurs first.
