AN ORDINANCE REPEALING SECTION 23:5-14, PARKING BY PERMIT ONLY IN DESIGNATED RESIDENTIAL AREAS, OF TITLE 23, TRAFFIC AND PARKING, OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY 2000, AS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED, AND AMENDS, SUPPLEMENTS AND RE-ADOPTS IT AS SECTION 23:5-14, PARKING BY PERMIT ONLY IN DESIGNATED RESIDENTIAL AREAS; SECTION 23:5-14.1, BUSINESS PERMIT PARKING; AND ADDING SECTION 23:5-14.2, SCHOOL PERMIT PARKING.

WHEREAS, the administration of the State-Operated Public Schools, in particular the Lafayette Street School, has requested the adoption of an Ordinance permitting school parking on certain residential streets adjacent to the Lafayette Street School, in order to avoid parking on the playground, thereby making it available to the students; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Engineering is desirous of adopting a School Permit Parking provision and to do so, sees a need to repeal Section 23:5-14, Parking by Permit Only in Designated Residential Areas (attached as an Exhibit to this Ordinance), and amend, supplement and re-adopt it as Section 23:5-14, Parking by Permit Only in Designated Residential Areas, Section 23:5-14.1 Business Permit Parking; and adding Section 23:5-14.2 School Permit Parking, for ease of interpretation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
Section 1. That Section 23:5-14, Parking by Permit Only in Designated Residential Areas, of Title 23, Traffic and Parking, of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, be amended and supplemented by repealing and replacing that Section of the Ordinance with the following:
