WHEREAS, Resolution 7R4-d adopted, June 6, 2013, authorized the Director of the Department of Engineering to execute Contract #18-2012 Renovations to Engine 13 Fire House, 714-728 Mount Prospect Avenue, Newark, New Jersey 07107, with Falak Construction, Inc., 836 Ridgewood Avenue, North Brunswick, New Jersey 08902, in the total bid amount of $344,976.00; and
WHEREAS, due to conditions discovered after the contract was awarded and interior demolition work had begun, certain minor changes to the scope of work were needed to address field conditions; more specifically (a) constructing a concrete apron instead of using an asphalt sealer as specified to address rodent and water infiltration in the laundry room; and (b) installing a gas line supply for the installation of a gas powered dryer, instead of an electric powered dryer (in part because of electric power issues and to achieve certain economies), as well as installing a new subpanel as required by electrical inspector [See Attachment A, Chan...
