WHEREAS, the National League of Cities awards grants through its "Cities Combating Hunger through Afterschool and Summer Meal Programs" technical assistance and grant initiative ("CHAMPS") in order to promote the development and implementation of Afterschool and Summer Meal programs; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newark has a need for funding and technical assistance to develop and implement an Afterschool and Summer Meal program in the City of Newark; and
WHEREAS, on August 15, 2014, on behalf of the City of Newark, the City's Mayor and Director of the Department of Neighborhood and Recreational Services caused to be submitted an application to the National League of Cities requesting grant funding in the amount of $50,000.00 from the CHAMPS initiative for the development and implementation of an Afterschool and Summer Meal program in the City of Newark; and
