WHEREAS, the State of New Jersey Department of Transportation ("NJDOT") State Aid to Counties and Municipalities FY 2016 Bikeways State Aid Program provides grant funding for bicycle lane projects; and

WHEREAS, the City of Newark wants to improve access to transit for bicyclists by creating a protected bike lane connecting Penn Station and Broad Street Station in the City of Newark; and

WHEREAS, the City of Newark desires to further the public interest by obtaining funding from the NJDOT FY 2016 Bikeways State Aid Program for construction of a bike lane connecting Penn Station and Broad Street Station in the City of Newark; and

WHEREAS, on October 15, 2015, on behalf of the City of Newark, the Director of the Department of Engineering submitted an application to NJDOT requesting grant funding in the amount of $492,250.00 (Four Hundred Ninety Two Thousand Two Hundred Fifty Dollars and Zero Cents) from the NJDOT FY 2016 Bikeways State Aid Program, for construction of the Greenway Bike Route, Downtown Transit Connector Project, Phase 2 in the City of Newark, identified as ap...
