WHEREAS, the City of Newark (the “City”) established the position of Fire Official by Ordinance 6S&FA(S-2) adopted on March 13, 1996; and
WHEREAS, due to the retirement of the previous Fire Official the City wishes to appoint a Fire Official within the Department of Public Safety - Newark Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Official shall be the Officer-in-Charge of the Division of Fire Prevention and Life Safety and must be certified by the State of New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, Division of Fire Safety and serves at the discretion of the Department Director; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and/or his designee, the Director of the Department of Public Safety - Newark Fire Department desires to appoint Zarifa Wilson, as Fire Official by way of this authorizing resolution effective for a minimum of ninety (90) days with a maximum of one hundred eighty (180) days from the date of adoption of this authorizing resolution, reserving the right to revisit at the end of one hundred and eighty (180) days.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL, OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. Zarifa Wilson is hereby appointed as Fire Official.
2. The appointment of Fire Official is effective from the date of adoption of this authorizing resolution for a minimum of ninety (90) days with a maximum of one hundred eighty (180) days.
STATEMENT:
This resolution hereby ratifies and authorizes the appointment of Zarifa Wilson, as Fire Official effective for a minimum of ninety (90) days with a maximum of one hundred eighty (180) days from the date of adoption of this authorizing resolution, reserving the right to revisit at the end of one hundred and eighty (180) days.
