WHEREAS, the City of Newark (the “City”) established the position of Fire Official by Ordinance 6S&Fa(S-2) adopted on March 13, 1996; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Official is the Officer-in-Charge of the Division of Fire Prevention and Life Safety and must be certified by the State of New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, Division of Fire Safety; and
WHEREAS, Zarifa Wilson was reappointed to the position of Fire Official by resolution 7R9-b adopted on December 21, 2016 (a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof) commencing October 6, 2016, for a minimum of ninety (90) days with a maximum of one hundred and eighty (180) days, that period having lapsed; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and/or his designee, the Director of the Department of Public Safety, desires to reappoint Zarifa Wilson, as Fire Official by way of this authorizing resolution effective from April 4, 2017 and for a minimum of ninety (90) days with a maximum of one hundred and eighty (180) days, reserving the right to revisit at the end of one hundred and eighty (180) days.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. Zarifa Wilson is reappointed as Fire Official effective April 4, 2017, for a minimum of ninety (90) days, with a maximum of one hundred and eighty (180) days.
2. The reappointment of Zarifa Wilson as Fire Official is ratified from April 4, 2017, through the date of adoption of this authorizing resolution.
STATEMENT
This resolution authorizes the Mayor and/or his designee, the Director of the Department of Public Safety, to authorize and ratify the reappointment of Zarifa Wilson as Fire Official effective April 4, 2017, for a minimum of ninety (90) days, reserving the right to revisit at the end of ninety (90) days, with a maximum of one hundred and eighty (180) days.
