WHEREAS, the Urban Areas Security Initiative ("UASI") Grant Program's mission is to enhance regional preparedness in major metropolitan areas through direct assistance to participating jurisdictions in developing an integrated regional system for prevention, protection, response and recovery from terrorist events or natural catastrophes; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newark, through the Department of Public Safety's Office of Emergency Management Division, has been awarded a grant in the amount of $12,500.00, from the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness FY18 UASI Grant to fund a Communication Planner position for the period commencing September 1, 2018 and terminating on August 31, 2021, toward the salary for the position of Communications Planner, in the Department of Public Safety; and
