WHEREAS, the Essex County Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs, 2020 Essex County Recreation & Open Space Trust Fund Local Aid Program, ("County"), offers grants to 22 Essex municipalities for open space acquisition, historic preservation or the development of recreational facilities; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newark ("City") wishes to improve an abandoned park, located 189-193 West Bigelow Street, Newark, New Jersey 07108 having both passive and non-passive park activities; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to further the public interest by obtaining funding in the form of a One Hundred Fifty-Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($150,000.00), grant from the County to fund the development of abandoned City of Newark land into the Ridgewood Avenue Park (the "Project"); and
WHEREAS, the Director of the Department of Recreation, Cultural Affairs & Senior Services recommends that the City make application for such a grant; and
